Development of Chiral Spiro-Pyrrolidine (SPD) Catalysts/Ligands

Since 2012, our team has designed and developed a novel class of chiral catalysts/ligands based on spiro-pyrrolidine (SPD), featuring a combination of rigidity and flexibility, diverse catalytic functions, and ease of preparation and modification. A series of experiments have confirmed their excellent and unique catalytic performance.

To date, over a hundred SPD-derived organic catalysts, ligands, and metal complexes have been developed, including derivatives such as silyl ethers, oxazoles, triazole salts, sulfonamides, diamines, thioureas, arylphosphines, and nitrenes. The central ions of these complexes encompass metals like Cu, Ni, Ir, and Co. Notably, these chiral catalysts exhibit excellent catalytic activity and enantioselectivity across more than 30 reactions, including asymmetric catalytic nucleophilic addition, alkylation, oxidation, reduction, coupling, C-C reorganization, and C-H activation. To further enhance the widespread application value of SPD in both fundamental research and industry, Energy Chemical has partnered with our team to introduce a new series of SPD products.
